Three Short Films About Mental Health Challenges and Resilience at Waquoit Congregational Church in East Falmouth, Sunday October 18 at 4pm

On Sunday, October 18 at 4pm, Waquoit Congregational Church will host a screening and discussion of three documentary shorts exploring what it means to live with — and move through — mental illness: In RECOVERY DIARIES, a courageous young woman recreates her schizophrenic voices and hallucinations; RAT TAIL tells the story of an insecure boy overcoming depression and bipolar disorder; and SMALL THINGS/BIG DIFFERENCE offers an illuminating, sweet look at what actually helps. The event is part of MOVIES THAT MATTER, a screening and discussion series highlighting the role that faith and faith communities can play in responding to critical social concerns.

After the screening, Jacqueline Lane, Executive Director of  NAMI Cape Cod, a local chapter of The National Alliance on Mental Illness, will lead a discussion. Audiences are invited to share stories and ask questions about local resources that they or others can access on the Cape. MOVIES THAT MATTER is supported by the MASS Cultural Council and Falmouth Cultural Council. The event is FREE and open to the public.
