Do You See What I See

Bob Korn Imaging will present Do You See What I See: Photographs from a Crit Group at his Workspace Gallery on Main Street in Eastham. The new show, featuring work by Andy Epstein, Coco McCabe, Edward Boches, Elliot Schildkrout, Lee Cott and Margaret Lampert will hang in the gallery from August 4, to September 30, with an opening and artist introductions on Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at 3 Main St. Unit 16 in Eastham.

The exhibit shows work from six photographers who have been part of the same crit group for over six years, working with advisor/educator Emily Belz.

While the exhibit features work from the six individual photographers, its underlying theme, represented in artist statements and comments about each other’s work, explores how an artist’s work benefits from seeing it through the eyes of trusted cohorts and a regular process of peer review. Just as an author needs early readers and a reliable editor, so too does a  photographer need honest feedback and objective perspectives on everything from individual images to final sequencing.

The 20 images include: While Walking by Andrew Epstein: an ongoing body of work exploring details in the landscape from New Mexico, California and New England. There is No Mending the Beechwood by Coco McCabe: an elegy for the diseases attacking these trees. From the Ground Up by Edward Boches; images documenting the Payomet Circus camp. Riverview, the Last Days of a Building by Lee Cott; a visual documentation of the dismantling of a condemned apartment building. The Way Light Falls by Margaret Lampert; an examination of the last bits of daylight. And Torn Posters by Elliot Schildkrout; iPhone images of the remains of posters on New York City surfaces.
