Contra dancing is the true traditional New England dance, brought here by the Irish, English and Scottish settlers. There is no fancy footwork in a contra dance – if you can walk, you can dance!
Outermost Contra dances are alway accompanied by live professional musicians and led by skilled callers. We are family friendly and welcome dancers of all levels. If you are new to contra or just want to polish your skills, be sure to come to the Contra Skills walk-through at 6:30. No need to bring a partner; there are plenty of friendly people in this welcoming dance community.
